Overview of the Defense Industry The Defense Industry Directorate, according to the Government Decision no.27 / 2017 on the organization and functioning of the Ministry of Economy, has the following attributions:
- to develop and submit for approval strategies and programs for the implementation of the Defense and Industry Security Governance Program, irrespective of the ownership of the economic operators;
- to approve the annual programs of investments of state-owned economic operators;
- to develop proposals for the national economy mobilization plan – industry section, the annual plans for readyness of defense of the national economy and teritory, the inventory of raw and related materials, to manage/update the inventory for the production capacities of economic operators in the defense industry ;
- to organize and carry out activities for the valorisation of the products that have been permanently removed from the mobilization reserve from administration, under the management of the economic operators in the defense industry;
- to promote the export of equipment, products and services of the defense industry, irrespective of the form of ownership of the economic operator;
- to participate in the export control and import control committees that target coordinated fields;
- to assure, represent and support the work of international technical cooperation in the field of defense industry, in relations with other states, as well as with the relevant organizations of the United Nations, North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union;
- to participate in interministerial and intergovernmental working committees and working groups on defense industry, emergency management, civil protection and national critical infrastructure protection in the economic field.
